How to wear an oversized coat (if we are not tall and thin)

Style Not Only Twenty

I really like oversized outerwear, but with my body that is not longilineal, but shapely and not very tall, the risk of looking squared is very high.

I often want to try on a piece, but usually I’m disappointed by how it fits on me.

Browsing LaMari Creative Shopping boutique in Milan, I fell in love with the brand Otra Vez and Mariarosa (the owner) advised me to try this beautiful coat from the Arizona collection. White horse heads with nuanced mane with red on a pearl gray background, this is the design of the over and slightly flared cut coat.

When I tried it I was struck by the beauty of coat and a bit puzzled by its shape on me. I think I wore it and took off about seven to eight times before deciding to buy it.

Pros and cons of my purchase

Despite being from the winter collection, the light color and the cotton fabric make it easy to wear in spring.

Being of the winter collection, the coat was on sale.

The very particular design makes it an almost a unique piece.

The length “dampens” a bit the largeness.

The cons are only given by the fact that, for the reasons that I have listed before regarding my physicality, I have to pay attention to the pairings.

How I wear the oversize coat

If you too are not skinny and tall, the advice is to wear something dark under the coat, I have paired the blue pants fairly tight in the leg, but soft and a shirt always blue, soft and not very long (so that the leg is not broken by the length of the shirt).

Very high shoes are fundamental, I wear sandals with plateau by Saint Laurent which are very comfortable and elongate the figure.

Another small trick is to wear the oversize duster coat opened, so that you see well that the width is of the coat. and not of the body.

The big necklace seemed to me to have the “Arizona” theme of the coat, like the bag with python inserts. I chose the clutch to give importance to the overcoat.

I’m satisfied with the final effect, what do you think? Would you wear it?
