The charm of sunglasses

Dior sunglasses

Today I want to talk about an accessory we all, not just women, love: sunglasses. Although the name indicates a peculiarity, that of protecting the sight from the sun’s rays, sunglasses often do not perform this function, but are a true distinctive feature of the person. Try to think of John Lennon without his round goggles or those used by Marlon Brando in the movie The Wild, left in our memory by the release of the film or, to make examples in the fashion world, Anna Wintur and Karl Lagerfeld both inseparable from their dark glasses.

Hiding your eyes behind a pair of sunglasses sometimes helps not only to create a character, often makes  who wear them  more confident.

Short history of sunglasses

Do you know how sunglasses are born?

It seems that the first to wear small quartz plates in the eleventh century were the Chinese judges, who thought they could hide their emotions in the exercise of their work.

In Italy in the seventeenth century green glasses were worn by Venetian nobles in their gondola trips to protect themselves from the reverberation of light on water.

You have to wait for the twentieth century because sunglasses are commonly used. It’s around the age of 20 that the use of dark lenses so far relegated to the military world is adopted by the Hollywood divas to protect the eyes from the spotlight during the breaks during film processing.

In 1925 they appeared on the cover of the Vogue magazine and in 1938 they were consecrated as a cult object of fashion by the magazine Harper’s Bazaar.

Sunglasses to enhance the charm

Undoubtedly a pair of sunglasses enhances the charm and makes it “intriguing” for those wearing them.

The models are infinite: round, cat-like, rectangular, drop-lenses, suitable for all shapes of face.

I also like to match them with the style of clothing I wear, both in shape and color.

I couldn’t wear the first pair that happens, because if the clothing has a style coherence, the glasses makes no exception.

These are the matches I chose, what do you think?
