Not so long ago, Iris Apfel name meant nothing to most people, I mean who does not assiduously follow the fashion world and influencers who are part of it. Today things have changed. In these days, you probably have seen the Citroen DS 3 campaign in which to get noticed is a fascinating 94 years-old testimonial.

As a young woman, she studied art history at New York University and then at the University of Wisconsin. She worked for fashion magazines, for interior designer Elinor Johnson and after the wedding with Carl Apfel, they founded the textile firm Old World Weavers and ran it until they retired in 1992. The company became famous because of several design restoration projects at the White House for nine presidents.

She, the colored lady from the strong taste and the usual round glasses, has attracted the attention of fashion sector in 2005 when, by accident, exposed a selection of her clothes and accessories for an exhibition at the prestigious Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art of New York.

Today is a fashion icon with a huge number of followers, she is one of the most appreciated special guests of the famous blog Advanced Style, and the star of a documentary available on Netflix.
